I have to say - I find the use of CG in period pieces such as Boardwalk Empire and The Kings Speech (Post-Production and VFX done by Molinare) extremely uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of something like Barry Lyndon or Once Upon a Time in America being produced today and a large amount of it's visual splendor coming from a computer is - for me anyway - deeply wrong...
I agree with you Tom particularly if it's being used excessively. The movie I most worry about is 'Anonymous' (2012) by Roland Emerrich. A story about Shakespeare with action movie budget CG. I hope we haven't turned a that corner in period film where expansive environment takes over from story.
