Continuing my current crush on animation that uses oral history and documentary in combination with simple, illustrative storytelling, I'll be sharing a selection of animations produced for the Blank On Blank project - which seeks to revitalise and disseminate otherwise forgotten or unheard audio interviews with iconic individuals. This first example annotates and re-imagines the content of singer-song writer Janice Joplin's last interview - another winning example of how pared-down animation and imaginative visual story-telling can enrich, transform and essentialise the spoken word.
