For anyone who knows me, reading comic books is
my biggest pastime. Since the introduction of Marvel Now’s 'All-New' titles a solo series which I heavily anticipated was the
debut of Ales Kot’s ‘Bucky Barnes: Winter
Solider’ purely because of the announcement that Marco Rudy would be hired
to be the illustrator for the series.
Marco Rudy has worked for a few publishers over
the years such as DC Comics, Boom Studios
and Shadowline, illustrating titles
such as Final Crisis, Swamp Thing and
Superboy. Since his work on these
series, he illustrated issues for Marvel Knights: Spider-Man and the Uncanny
X-Men before getting his break on Winter Soldier.
Rudy has a great talent for creating engaging
layouts which stay away from the generic panelled pages you tend to see in
comics. He manages to convey stories in such unique ways that his compositions
and transitions between panels are great examples of innovative visual
storytelling. He uses traditional mediums to create beautiful imagery, and I can't say enough about his captivating use of colour.
So with the second issue of ‘Bucky Barnes: Winter Solider’ being released today, there’s no
better time to get others on board to collect and enjoy Marco Rudy’s wonderful work.
